Registered Land Surveyor/Survey Manager

in the Gwinnett, GA area. This role is responsible for managing field and office survey staff, ensuring quality control maintaining compliance with applicable laws and standards, coordinating with other departments, and driving the department's strategic goals. The Survey Department Manager ensures that projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time while fostering a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Supervise, mentor, and evaluate field crews, survey technicians, and office staff. Manage department schedules, workloads, and resource allocation to ensure timely project delivery. Foster professional development and training for team members. Project Oversight & Coordination Plan and coordinate survey projects from proposal through completion. Review project requirements, budgets, and timelines in collaboration with project managers. Serve as primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies regarding survey work. Technical Oversight Ensure survey deliverables (plats, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, as-builts, construction staking, etc.) meet quality standards and industry regulations. Oversee implementation of advanced survey technologies (GPS, LiDAR, UAVs, 3D scanning, etc.) Maintain and improve data management systems, CAD standards, and workflows. Compliance & Quality Control Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) policies. Implement and monitor safety policies for all field operations. Business Development Strategy Assist in preparing proposals, bids, and contracts. Identify opportunities for expanding survey services and improving efficiency. Manage department budgets and forecast resource needs. Education & Experience Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience Georgia Registered Land Surveyor (RLS) license required 8-10 years of progressive experience in surveying with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role Proficiency in survey instruments (GPS, robotic total stations, 3D scanning, etc.) and software (Civil 3D, OpenRoads, GIS, Trimble Business Center, etc.) Strong knowledge of boundary law, construction standards, and applicable regulations Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills Core Competencies Leadership & Team Development Strategic Planning & Budgeting Client Relationship Management Quality Assurance/Quality Control Advanced Surveying Technologies & Practices Why join us?
