We look for a reliable, food‑safety‑knowledgeable leader to manage our breakfast and lunch services and the Food Bank.

Base pay range $20.00/hr

Status:

Full‑Time Position; 35 hours per week

Supervisor:

Corps Officers / Administrative Assistant

Primary Function:

Responsible for the entire weekly (Monday to Friday) breakfast and lunch service operation, including safe food handling, meal preparation, service, and kitchen cleanup.

Education & Work Experience

High School diploma or GED (preferred)

Valid WA State Food Handlers Permit

Valid WA State Driver’s License with a good driving record

Experience preparing and serving congregate meals to fifty or more people

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

Plan, prepare, and serve breakfast and lunch for Port Angeles area residents

Possess required state and city certificates or other credentials needed for meal service

Supervise volunteers in a kind and supportive manner

Knowledgeable of health and safety standards related to food service

Work productively with all people in a nondiscriminatory manner

Maintain a drug‑free workplace in accordance with TSA Policy

Strong verbal and written communication in English

Follow written policies and procedures

Dependable, timely attendance and completion of duties

Free of communicable disease

Pass TSA background check and Protecting the Mission requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Kitchen

Plan and prepare menus, adapting to donated items

Cook and serve meals using portion controls and nutritional standards

Maintain kitchen cleanliness, handwashing, and glove use

Keep work areas clean, disinfected, and equipment in good order

Ensure all cooking and serving equipment is cleaned each day

Turn off equipment when leaving the kitchen

Food Bank

Assist Admin: Oversee the operation, set‑up, and tear‑down

Organize/maintain food bank inventory

Re‑package commodities for distribution

Both

Pick up donated food as needed

Rotate food so that the oldest is used first

Report accidents or problems immediately to the Corps Officers

Supervise volunteers in clean‑up and related activities

Account for in‑kind donations as required

Store and prep all food at proper temperatures in a safe and sanitary manner

Receive all deliveries of food and service items

Report needed food and supplies to the Corps Officers per policy

Attend training workshops when indicated

Participate in staff meetings as requested

Know first aid procedures

Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist

Grip, push, pull objects such as drawers and reach overhead

Operate telephone, desktop, or laptop computer

Lift up to 40 pounds, including heavy cooking pots and pans

Access and produce information from a computer

Understand written information

Driver Qualifications

Valid Washington State driver’s license

Pass the Salvation Army’s in‑house driving test and Motor Vehicles Records check

Willing to lift 30–50 pounds as needed

Pass a criminal background check

Maneuver assigned TSA vehicles (availability dependent)
