Director of Special Education Responsibilities
The Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialist is responsible for providing direct services to students with IEPs related to orientation and mobility for students who are visually impaired. The O&M Specialist ensures that students\' IEPs are current with regard to services and that goals and objectives are monitored for progress. The O&M Specialist completes all required documentation to meet compliance and participates in all required meetings, trainings, and other duties as assigned. Licensure Requirements & Qualifications
Must hold an Orientation and Mobility Specialist license. See below for the requirements. Possess certification from the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired or possess certification from the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals Applicants must have a
BA degree
and possess or have the ability to obtain a NM teaching license (New Mexico has an alternative licensure program for applicants who possess a BA degree or higher). Additional Information
Work Environment:
On-Site attendance is mandatory for this position. Terms of Employment:
Salary and work calendar established yearly by the district. All GMCS schools are eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF). All applicants must upload copies of official transcripts or evaluations of foreign transcripts from any and all accredited colleges/universities attended by you for review in order to be considered for this position.
