The Purchase & Logistics Head will lead the end-to-end procurement, logistics, and inventory management functions for an industrial automation, project-based organization specializing in Machine Tools and Special Purpose Machines (SPM). This role demands an experienced professional with in-depth expertise in procurement of high-value equipment, mechanical and control items, manufacturing processes, and costing, along with a strong grasp of domestic and international taxation, duties, and compliance regulations. Responsibilities
Follow, implement & maintain Purchase SOP Accountable for routine executions, cost control & escalations Domestic & International Sourcing for Automation, Logistic Automation Responsible to develop Domestic & global supplier base Leading team size of 7-8 people Commodities to be handled by team such as PLCs, Industrial PCs, Sensors, Switchgear, Scanners, Light Curtain, Cables, Cords, controllers, vision system, IT purchase, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Motors, Gearbox, Servo, Screw Jacks, Tools, Bearings, chains & sprockets, Aluminium Extrusions, Hand tools, Hardware, Manufacturing (Machining & Fabricated items including surface finish like painting or Powder coating) Sourcing of Global & Local Trade/Labor for In house & on site installation & commissioning Work with HQ for Sourcing of Special equipment or engineer to order equipment such as Battery Test Cyclers, material handling system, Conveyor Systems, Leak test, Racking System, Nut Runners, Rivetting Equipment, Glueing & Dispensing, Indexers, Bowl Feeders, High Speed Doors, Industrial Washers, Servo Press, Servo Slides, Jib bom, Lift Assists, Lifting tackle, Manipulators, Hoist, Overhead railing system etc, manufacturing (Machining & Fabrication items) Procurement of Capex & data management, Capital Equipment such Compressor, Air conditioner, Furniture, Crane Ensure procurement at right price, in right time, of right quality, in right quantity, from right source Functional Review meeting with HQ - Fortnightly Review with Team on daily/weekly basis and with suppliers on as need basis Review & evaluate Suppliers business account of Class 'A' & 'B' Alternate sourcing / ensure development of substitute for each commodity Review Indent, prioritise urgencies & initiate procurement process Ontime Procurement at optimum cost Planning, handling Logistics of Import consignment Resolve queries related to procurements with Stores & Accounts on daily basis Responsible for Procurement of Capex & maintain & monitor compliance record of on time actions Utilization / liquidation efforts on Excess inventory Forecasting of future trends, Forecasting of Project consumption, market intelligence Inventory Management
Achieve adequate inventory management by suggesting nearest alternative available in excess, cost effective, alternates (makes) Complaince
Attend Internal & External Audits, ensure complaince & resolve points/queries raised MIS
Review of Pending PO report on weekly basis & PO Vs GRIR report on monthly basis Review of Tasks, KRAs & update Goals & Achievement Folder for KRAs on weekly basis Responsible & Execution of Functional Objectives To identify future trends, Laws, Budget and take pro-active actions Logistics
Coordinate with India Exim team for Shipment Logistics & Customs clearance in USA. Import & Export operations. Evaluate, develop & Performance monitoring of Freight Forwarders & Customs Broker Compliance & Statutory requirements related to Customs, Foreign Trade & Other related Taxes Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electronics Engineering and/or Master's Degree in Materials Management, MBA or PGDM in Supply Chain Management (SCM) or Master's degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management 10-15 years of experience in Procurement, Logistics, and Stores management within an Industrial Automation, Machine Tool, or SPM Manufacturing environment Proven expertise in procurement of high-value equipment, mechanical and control items, and manufactured components Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, costing, and strategic procurement practices Comprehensive knowledge of domestic and international taxation, import/export laws, duties, and statutory compliances Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage supplier relationships Preferred Requirements
Experience working in a project-based, global organization Familiarity with logistics automation, Capex procurement, and customs clearance for international operations Proficiency with ERP systems, supplier performance management, and data-driven procurement reporting Strong analytical, negotiation, and forecasting skills Exposure to North American trade laws, customs processes, and global supplier development
