The VP Tax Operations Manager is primarily responsible for coordinating and enhancing Jefferies’ tax compliance in a constantly evolving business and regulatory environment. A successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional attentional to detail, possess a positive can‑do attitude, operate with the highest levels of integrity and competence, excel at driving and influencing change and foster collaborative relationships across business and partner teams. Primary Responsibilities
Oversee the preparation and filing of tax information returns which includes but is not limited to: US – 1099 series, 1042‑S, 8966, 945 and 1042 Canada – T‑5 series Puerto Rico – 480.6 series Manage Jefferies’ withholding and remittance obligations Subject Matter Expert for operational tax processes including cost basis, 1446(f), 871m, etc. Monitor changes to tax regulations and assist with the interpretation and roll‑out of new tax requirements Manage vendor relationships and participate in industry forums to drive synergies, best practices, and efficiencies Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies and auditors (such as the IRS) for tax‑related inquiries and examinations. Qualifications
Minimum 8 years of Information Reporting & Withholding experience At least 3 years of management experience overseeing Tax Operations at a multi-national financial institution Experience with IRS rules, regulations and guidance relating to all types of US information reporting Expert understanding of IRS Forms W‑9 and W‑8 and their associated requirements Demonstrated success to independently resolve and/or develop recommendations for complex issues or problems Strong analytical skills and attention to detail when working with high volumes of data Experience with Broadridge systems (BPS, TMS, TDS) a plus Experience with FATCA/CRS self‑certification forms a plus Experience with foreign tax regulations a plus Primary Location: Full Time.
