Role Purpose The Ribbon Cable PLM team is growing to execute with better focus on our unprecedented demand growth. The primary purpose of this Product Line Manager role is to initially build and then lead the Central Stack Ribbon Cable product team through a period of growth and transformation, while specifically owning the P&L performance, product strategy, and product lifecycle management of the product line.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute product line strategy by analyzing market requirements, competitive positioning, and differentiation opportunities while leading cross‑functional teams across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Development, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales.
Business Planning & Forecasting: Own supply/demand planning through the SIOP process, create short and long‑term forecasts, and deliver financial commitments to Corporate while balancing customer needs with Corning's capabilities.
Product Lifecycle Management: Drive products from concept through commercialization and end‑of‑life, including new product identification, development prioritization, complexity reduction, and obsolescence management to maximize value extraction.
Pricing & Commercial Strategy: Optimize pricing structures, establish floor prices and premiums, develop customer value propositions with Account Management, and evaluate new product requests through comprehensive business case analysis.
Standards & IP Strategy: Create and implement intellectual property and industry standards strategies for the product line while working with Standards group to drive market influence and competitive advantage.
Identify and develop next‑generation fiber and flexible ribbon technologies for the carrier market, build the go‑to‑market strategy for converting carriers, deploy capacity needed to meet market demand, and execute aggressive cost reduction and process improvements in manufacturing.
Integrate OSP and FR cables into a single product line, where they previously resided in two separate teams.
Required Experience / Education
Bachelor of Science (4 year) degree in business or with an analytical background.
Minimum of 5 years work experience in product line management, marketing, manufacturing, or engineering in an engineering‑based and customer‑focused environment.
Demonstrated track record of managing projects and leading multi‑functional teams.
Work experience in a commercial function and strong potential for technical learning.
Desired Experience / Education
MBA or equivalent demonstrated experience (i.e., extensive experience in business) is a strong plus.
Experience managing people.
Work experience in Manufacturing, Development, and/or in a Strategy group.
Financial analysis and accounting experience.
International business work experience.
Participation in, or leadership of, multicultural and/or multi‑geographic projects.
Compensation Base pay range: $148,181.00/yr – $203,749.00/yr. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job‑related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
