Job Summary The Process Operator is responsible for safely operating and monitoring processing equipment used in the manufacturing of beverages, including blending, pasteurization, filtration, and CIP (clean-in-place) systems. This role ensures that products are processed according to standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality specifications, and food safety standards. The ideal candidate has experience in food or beverage production, is mechanically inclined, and attentive to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and monitor equipment such as tanks, heat exchangers, pumps, and valves.
Follow batch sheets and process instructions to ensure correct mixing, heating, and transfer of product.
Perform in-process quality checks including temperature, flow, and product characteristics.
Prepare equipment for sanitation and conduct CIP cycles according to SOPs.
Record all process data accurately in logs and production systems.
Report deviations, alarms, or abnormal conditions to supervisors or maintenance.
Assist in minor troubleshooting and line changeovers as required.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Follow all company policies and procedures related to safety, food safety, and quality standards, including GMPs, PPE requirements, and hazard reporting.
Perform all other duties or tasks as assigned by management to support departmental or company objectives.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Processing Yield and Batch Accuracy:
Percentage of batches produced within target yield and formulation specifications.
Sanitation and CIP Compliance Rate:
Adherence to sanitation and Clean-in-Place (CIP) procedures as verified by inspections and records.
Operator-Related Downtime Rate:
Amount of production downtime attributed to operator error or missed steps.
In-Process Quality Compliance:
Percentage of in-spec pH, Brix, and temperature checks completed during processing.
Recordkeeping Accuracy and Completeness:
Percentage of production and quality records maintained accurately and in full compliance with documentation standards.
Required Qualifications Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required
1–2 years of experience in a beverage, dairy, or food processing environment preferred
Familiarity with pumps, valves, CIP systems, and process controls preferred
Skills & Competencies
Basic math, measurement, and computer skills
Ability to read and follow SOPs and batch records
Mechanically inclined with attention to cleanliness and safety
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in cold, hot, or fast-paced production and warehouse environments
