Quality Control Inspector

Overview
Visually and dimensionally inspects forgings for conformance to required specifications and tolerances.
Responsibilities
Receives instructions and work assignments from Q.C. Supervisor.
Reads and interprets forging blueprints and written customer specifications.
Perform dimensional and visual checks on forgings for compliance with specifications and tolerances using micrometers, dial indicators, go and no-go gauges, etc.
Transports required samples to air blast blower to cool.
Cleans forgings in a wheelabrator for inspection purposes.
Production approval of 1st piece and die changes.
Performs interpretations on inspections involving unusual conditions.
Checks billet shear quality.
Checks product for seams, cracks, cold sheets, laps and surface defects.
Notifies production supervisor of any deviations from required specifications.
Performs dock audit.
Makes up SPC inspection reports and interprets results.
Conducts basic layouts on forgings.
Keeps work area in clean and orderly condition at all times.
Responsible for incoming brinell hardness inspection on heat treated product.
Responsible for audit over inspection of Final inspected product.
Responsible for sectioning of product for metallurgical analysis.
Follows all safety procedures.
Required Skills/Abilities
Computer skills
Able to read calipers, Forging Prints, height and gauges, measuring tools
Able to operate Optical Comparator
Able to operate Magnaflux, Wheelabrator, hardness test
Education and Experience
High School Diploma/GED preferred
Prior Manufacturing experience in Quality Related position preferred
