The Outbound Operations Supervisor is a people leader responsible for executing all pulling and outbound shipping activities. Reporting to the Outbound Operations Manager, this role involves designing efficient methods for outbound teams to ensure freight is pulled, sorted, packed, and loaded safely, with high quality and timeliness. The supervisor maintains high operational standards while fostering a culture of engagement, empowerment, and problem-solving among team members. Responsibilities
Supervise and implement outbound operations functions, instruct employees, monitor progress, and troubleshoot as needed. Maintain organization of truck yard operations, trailers, housekeeping, maintenance, and safety protocols. Ensure adherence to security and safety rules, creating a safe environment for all employees. Monitor budget and enforce cost-saving initiatives and process improvements. Lead warehouse associates, promoting engagement and empowerment. Investigate and resolve shipping errors, working with management to prevent future issues. Schedule team hours for peak periods and efficiency. Protect company assets, ensure equipment is used and maintained properly, and secure facilities nightly. Lead efficient processing of outbound orders, cross/docks, stock, special orders, UPS, Will Call, etc. Identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiency improvements. Foster a culture of engagement, mentorship, and problem-solving. Oversee truck load reconciliation and implement protocols for shuttle truck loading. Ensure compliance with company and supplier guidelines for factory returns. Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. 1+ years’ experience in a distribution center or similar environment. Ability to comply with safety requirements. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Good judgment and basic computer skills. Capable of lifting/moving up to 60 lbs. Forklift and pallet jack certified. Preferred Qualifications
2+ years’ experience in a distribution environment. 1+ year in a managerial or team-leading role. Experience with Lean Six Sigma, automotive or retail distribution, quality functions, and relevant tools (MS Office, Power BI, etc.). Customer-centric, data-driven, and problem-solving mindset. Leadership
