Position Overview Position manages the daily activities of the strategic procurement of raw materials, parts, equipment, and operating supplies required for production of the Division’s products. Responsible for embracing and driving lean enterprise systems throughout the procurement process. The Sourcing/Commodity Manager will be responsible for providing ongoing commodity market analysis and sourcing analysis.
Key Responsibilities Initiate and lead vendor quality management/improvements, including evaluating process capability, tracking delivery, output, and reporting of supplier performance.
Maintain and build supplier relations and robust communication processes.
Collaborate with the business unit to establish preferred supplier selection criteria based on supplier evaluations of price, quality, delivery, certifications, and compliance with governmental procurement regulations.
Provide analytical support by monitoring metrics for the customer, management, and team, while also creating ad hoc analysis as needed.
Lead project activities and support cross‑functional initiatives, analyzing data and developing solutions to foster collaboration and teamwork across the organization.
Investigate and facilitate low‑cost country sourcing opportunities.
Manage the Division’s purchases of raw materials, supplies, equipment, or services; identify raw material requirements from production specifications, operational schedules, and engineering quality requirements; determine the most cost‑efficient and reliable materials for the manufacturing process.
Promote and use strategic suppliers, and ensure purchasing strategy reflects local suppliers versus group strategic suppliers.
Interview, select, and negotiate with suppliers in response to material requirements or cost issues, establishing procedures to leverage the company’s position.
Work with suppliers to develop and manage continuous improvement programs addressing quality, delivery, service, and price.
Develop standard or automated re‑order procedures and crisis management and supplier backup contingency programs.
Benchmark best practices among Division suppliers, maintaining accurate measurements and records for supplier evaluation.
Ensure purchases and capital expenditures align with Division strategies and departmental budgets.
Integrate the Division with electronic interfacing throughout the purchasing function and lead supplier negotiations on new procurements or changes to existing purchase orders.
Qualifications Minimum of 5–7 years purchasing/managerial experience.
Four‑year college degree in business, engineering, or materials management required; certification in supply chain management preferred.
Strong analytical and technical skills to understand business practices and recommend automation opportunities.
Functional understanding of cost accounting and ability to apply it practically.
Advanced computer skills and proficiency with electronic processing systems.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with internal and external contacts.
