Overview
Machining Lead at Watts Water Technologies. This onsite role is based in St. Pauls, NC and reports to the Value Stream Leader.
Primary Job Duties And Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate CNC machining activities to meet production schedules.
Assign tasks and monitor performance of CNC operators.
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machines including mills and lathes.
Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders.
Conduct first-piece inspections and ensure product quality.
Train and mentor new and existing team members.
Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Perform routine maintenance and report equipment issues.
Conduct and lead daily Gemba walks and meetings to promote continuous improvement and team engagement.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and cross-functional teams.
Fill in for Supervisor as needed, including decision-making and team oversight.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 5+ years of CNC machining experience.
Proficiency in CNC machine setup, operation, and G-code programming.
Strong understanding of precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Proven ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (valid certification preferred).
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., QAD, SAP, Oracle, etc.) for inventory and shipping transactions.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Understanding and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations and safety practices and procedures.
Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical certification in CNC machining or manufacturing technology.
Prior leadership or team coordination experience.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
