Renewables Asset Manager, Commercial Strategy - Energy Storage
Locations:
FULLY REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA)
This is an opportunity to join an industry-leading renewable energy venture and IPP with strong private equity backing, focused on developing and executing dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects. The company has amassed over 9GW of projects in a short period and is currently expanding rapidly.
The Energy Storage Asset Manager will join a growing Asset Management Division, a creative team focused on energy storage/battery storage asset management, O&M, energy trading strategies, and real-time operations.
The role involves leading commercial asset management and technical engineering optimization for renewable energy battery storage assets across the US, supporting a nationwide utility-scale renewable portfolio. The position also involves pioneering the build-out of a proprietary energy storage management platform.

Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day operations of utility-scale battery storage assets across ISO/RTOs to ensure optimal performance post-COD.
Review and recommend on commercial agreements such as PPA, O&M, interconnection, leases, financing, and entity structures.
Lead asset-based accounting initiatives, creating and analyzing operational budgets.
Provide technical expertise on design, contractual terms, warranties, and risk assessments during project development and operations.
Offer commercial insights on P&Ls, budgets, energy deals, and cash management to development and EPC teams.
Plan outages, switching, and maintenance to minimize downtime.
Oversee compliance with NERC/FERC and ISO/RTO requirements, managing third-party service providers.
Qualifications:
Experience in utility-scale renewables asset management, portfolio management, or operations; commercial asset management experience is REQUIRED; engineering background is a plus.
Proven success in asset management, including financial performance optimization, O&M, and energy management across various platforms (renewables, solar, wind, BESS, etc.).
Strong background in P&Ls, budgeting, energy deal structures, PPAs, and cash management.
Experience managing third-party O&M contractors and service providers.
Knowledge of NERC, FERC, ISO/RTO compliance, outage management, and switching.
Familiarity with SCADA management and plant control systems.
Ability to review commercial agreements; experience in roles like Portfolio Manager, Asset Manager, or similar in renewable/utility/clean energy companies is ideal.
