Location: Marengo, IL; Rockford, IL. Salary: $70,000.00-$85,000.00; $80,000.00-$100,000.00.
Essential duties and responsibilities are to coordinate the smooth flow of parts within a manufacturing facility, track inventory, expedite orders, communicate with suppliers and internal departments to meet production schedules and deadlines, and resolve issues with part availability.
Responsibilities
Monitoring part inventory levels, identifying potential shortages, and reviewing purchase orders with suppliers to maintain adequate stock.
Tracking incoming parts shipments, verifying quantities and quality against purchase orders, and communicating any discrepancies to suppliers or the Buyer Planner.
Collaborating with production planning to ensure parts are delivered to the assembly line according to production schedules.
Actively pursuing critical or overdue parts, communicating with suppliers to prioritize deliveries and address any delays.
Liaising with departments including purchasing, quality control, production, and customer service to manage part flow and resolve issues.
Utilizing inventory management systems to generate reports on part availability, lead times, and potential bottlenecks.
Identifying and resolving issues related to part shortages, incorrect deliveries, or quality concerns.
Coordinating part deliveries, including packaging, labeling, and shipping documentation.
Maintaining detailed notes regarding vendor status and production communication in reporting systems.
Assisting with closeout of the order, including payment of invoices, receipt of deliverables and goods in the system.
Escalating vendor problems, delays and questions internally and with vendors to help resolve and keep schedules on track.
Proactively recommending, supporting, and implementing improvements to tools, systems and software to improve efficiency.
Representing the department in meetings with other functions/management.
Staying updated with industry trends and practices through continuous professional development and networking.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in inventory management systems and data analysis.
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as price vs. cost analysis, discounts, percentages, proportions, area, circumference, volume, metrics and interest.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and negotiation abilities.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables where limited standardization exists.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business materials, technical procedures, blueprints, component specifications, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
Detail-oriented with solid organizational skills.
Ability to present information via spreadsheets and computer software.
Ability to respond timely to questions from managers, supervisors, personnel and customers.
Ability to travel up to 15% domestically and internationally.
Education and Experience
Associate degree or 2-year advanced technical degree with 5 years of supply chain, production, and process improvement experience in a manufacturing environment required.
Bachelor degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or related field with a minimum 2 years of supply chain, production, and process improvement experience preferred.
CPIM or CSCP certifications can be advantageous.
Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing are a plus.
