MOR Compliance Specialist
Employer Multifamily Asset Managers (MAM)
Location Okemos, MI
Description Multifamily Asset Managers (MAM) is a private sector partner of Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) and implements asset‑management core tasks under HUD’s Section 8 Performance‑Based Contract Administration program, focusing on project‑based Section 8 contract compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct on‑site Management and Occupancy Reviews (MORs) using HUD‑9834 for assigned properties.
Perform approximately 7 MORs per month, ensuring findings are mitigated and HUD compliance is achieved.
Verify and resolve Exigent Health and Safety deficiencies from recent inspections.
Review owner/management compliance with HUD EIV requirements and other relevant regulations.
Document findings in HUD Form‑9834 reports within 30 days and follow up on corrective actions.
Respond to owner/agent inquiries regarding HUD occupancy requirements and keep up‑to‑date with new HUD regulations.
Provide technical guidance and maintain accurate records and documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Five years of property management experience with multifamily, project‑based Section 8 properties.
In‑depth knowledge of Section 8 rules, HUD Handbook 4350.3, and related HUD notices.
Strong communication and written reporting skills, with ability to explain program requirements to owners, managers, and tenants.
Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), and ability to learn in‑house databases.
Valid driver’s license; travel up to 80% of the time.
Physical Demands & Work Environment Employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, and lift up to 35 lbs; use of office equipment and occasional travel to properties.
