Join Optum as a Customer Service Representative and provide AI‑powered advice and support to patients remotely.
This is a National Remote position. You can telecommute from anywhere within the U.S. The role is full time Monday‑Friday, with flexible 8‑hour shift schedules between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm EST. A 4‑week paid training period will be completed during 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST, Monday‑Friday.
Primary Responsibilities
Answer a high volume of calls from patients or their representatives. Perform scheduling, re‑rescheduling, and cancellation of patient appointments. Ask appropriate questions and listen actively to identify specific questions or issues while documenting required information in computer systems. Contact care providers (doctor’s offices) on behalf of the customer to assist with appointment scheduling or connections with internal specialists when needed. Maintain all compliance and HIPAA regulations at all times. Required Qualifications
High School Diploma / GED. Must be 18 years of age or older. 1+ years of experience in a healthcare call center or office setting, analyzing and solving customer problems. Familiarity with computer and Windows PC applications, including the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications. Ability to work any 8‑hour shift within standard business hours of 7:00 am to 7:00 pm EST, Monday through Friday. Preferred Qualifications
Medical terminology experience. Proficiency in translating health‑care‑related jargon and complex processes into simple, step‑by‑step instructions customers can understand and act upon. Telecommuting Requirements
Keep all company sensitive documents secure. Maintain a dedicated, private work area separated from living areas. Live in a location that can receive a high‑speed internet connection approved by UnitedHealth Group. Adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy. Compensation
The hourly pay for this role ranges from $16.00 to $27.69 per hour based on full‑time employment. In addition to salary, benefits include a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and 401(k) contribution (subject to eligibility). EEO Statement
