Roadway Project Manager I

HNTB’s Raleigh, NC office is seeking a Roadway Project Manager I to join our Roadway design team. Our team is currently working on some of the most complex projects in North Carolina for NCDOT, City of Raleigh, and various other municipalities. We are dedicated to enhancing our communities, solving infrastructure challenges for our clients, and increasing transit and pedestrian/bicycle mobility.
What You'll Do
Develop project scope, fee quotation, and assist in technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB’s Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
Serve as the primary client liaison and manage the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budget to completion, ensuring client satisfaction.
Perform technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) and lead the development and execution of the project management plan.
Coordinate with managers on project staffing, recruitment, development, retention, and succession planning.
Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development and client relationship building.
Lead proposal development and interview presentations for strategic and mini‑mega projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience.
2 years of task management or Deputy PM experience.
What You'll Bring
Proven success delivering projects on time, on budget, with quality and client satisfaction.
Experience leading a multi‑disciplinary team.
Proficiency with system tools for project planning and monitoring.
Ability to implement HNTB’s sophisticated processes within projects.
Strong client‑level interfacing skills.
Technical guidance to team and task leads.
What We Prefer
Master’s degree in Engineering.
10 years relevant experience.
North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
