Position Summary The Line Leader is responsible for operating the packaging line, ensuring compliance with all Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), and good manufacturing practices (GMP). Reports directly to the Packaging Supervisor for guidance and evaluation, maintaining Balchem's quality and safety standards. Essential Functions Operate the packaging line safely and according to operational guidelines Provide assistance and training on equipment such as cartoner, metal detector, VFFS scale, form fill/seal machine, case sealer, and palletizer; ensure cleaning and maintenance are performed; operate equipment independently Monitor bulk density, finished product appearance, blend, and ingredient weights without assistance; utilize the Repalletization Program with minimal help Complete all paperwork accurately and timely, complying with Balchem standards Maintain a clean and organized work environment, completing sanitation schedules as required Follow safety and security procedures, report unsafe conditions Operate a forklift safely; maintain forklift certification Enhance professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and networking Monitor product quality to meet standards; report deviations; resolve operational issues during the shift Attend company training sessions on safety, quality, and procedures Report any failure to adhere to company ethics and standards Perform additional duties as assigned Follow all company policies on personnel, safety, and equipment maintenance Become proficient in production and safety policies, including emergency procedures and hazard communication Requirements High School Diploma or GED; 1-3 months related experience or training; or equivalent Previous supervisory experience required Certified forklift operator Strong motivation, organization, communication, and documentation skills Excellent attention to detail, ability to multi-task and prioritize Strong work ethic: punctual, dependable, trustworthy Ability to operate equipment safely and follow production, personnel, and safety procedures Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and correspondence Effective communication skills for one-on-one and small group interactions Professional conflict resolution skills Working Conditions Stand, walk, handle objects, talk, and use vision and hearing regularly Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl as needed Lift up to 50 pounds using proper techniques periodically Repetitive motions related to unboxing, loading, and packaging What We Offer Medical/Dental/Vision insurance after 1 month 401(k) with 6% employer match after 60 days Paid Time Off Uniforms and safety shoes provided Tuition reimbursement after 2 years (related to work) Free cereal Note: Duties and responsibilities may change at any time.
