The 15‑bed M60 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) provides expert care for suspected or confirmed seizure disorders. This team cares deeply about both the physical and mental aspects of epilepsy, as many populations experience high levels of anxiety due to the uncertainty of the diagnosis process. As an RN Resident on this floor, you will work with fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

A caregiver in this role works a day/night rotation from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.

Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.

Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.

Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).

Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.

Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.

Document in patients’ medical records.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program).

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

New grad RN or less than one year of RN work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye–hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires correct vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Requires exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Requires medium work (exerting 20–50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10–25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force occasionally) and light work (exerting more than 10 pounds of force constantly). Physical demand is above light work.
