The Project Manager is a seasoned professional who combines deep project management expertise with a strong focus on customer service and stakeholder engagement. The PM understands multiple project management frameworks (e.g., Waterfall, Agile) and tailors approaches to projects of varying scope, complexity, and team composition. The role covers the full project lifecycle from initiation to closure and acts as a key liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring customer needs and expectations are clearly understood, communicated, and met. The incumbent fosters a service-oriented culture, resolves issues with empathy and efficiency, and maintains high levels of satisfaction across all touchpoints. The PM applies relevant policies to navigate risks, issues, and change management, leads cross-functional teams, manages project documentation, and ensures timely delivery of milestones with transparency and accountability. Manage efforts with stakeholders to document project management needs and services for each project, selecting appropriate methodology (waterfall, Agile, or hybrid). Develop a deep understanding of the project, goals, vernacular, and workflows to support practical management. Support development, execution, and monitoring of vendor contracts. Maintain transparent project systems (e.g., Jira) to track tasks and interdependent milestones. Support internal and external customers with timely development and delivery of meeting agendas, notes, and action items. Lead project meeting agenda management and resource sharing to meet documented objectives. Lead change management by adapting project plans, workflows, and resources to align with organizational goals. Serve as primary contact for inquiries and status updates. Feasibility analyses during project intake to identify risks, constraints, and resources. Collaborate with product management to integrate milestones into the product development lifecycle. Facilitate stakeholder understanding of requirements, deliverables, schedules, and risks. Develop and manage project charters, requirements, budgets, roles, and resource needs. Document and track project requirements from business to solution levels. Lead cross-functional planning to build schedules and backlogs to meet success criteria. Identify and escalate risks with mitigation strategies; monitor budget and progress; maintain project documentation. Present monthly status reports to executive staff and stakeholders. Continuously improve project management processes based on feedback. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Significant experience applying project management theory to practice with adaptable methods. Experience using project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Confluence). Experience fostering collaboration across staff and stakeholders. Clear and effective written communication with internal and external stakeholders. Strong leadership, collaboration, and presentation skills (virtual and in-person). Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities. Ability to develop and manage customer relations and respond promptly to requests. Ability to learn project vernacular and understand how projects relate to broader strategies. Attention to detail and ability to identify risks and plan contingencies. Strong problem-solving, judgment, and resource management abilities. Effective tracking of effort and project progress. Preferred Qualifications
Experience planning deliverables under contract terms. Familiarity with assessment development cycles and educational measurement principles in K-12. PMP Certification or Certified Scrum Master (CSM). Special Conditions of Employment
Pre-employment criminal history background check required. Must pass employment misconduct disclosure process. Fully remote position; ability to work from home per UCSC telecommuting agreement. Occasional evenings and weekends as directed; ability to travel nationally. Must complete required training including UC compliance training.
