Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance functions, emergency repairs and final repairs on all HVAC equipment.

Diagnose, troubleshoot, disassemble, repair, maintain and service HVAC systems while performing preventive maintenance.

Inspect mechanical rooms for operation logs, leaks, malfunctioning equipment, and operation status.

Follow preventive maintenance schedules on HVAC equipment and control systems (motors, cooling towers, air handlers, tab units, DX units, condenser pumps, A/C split systems).

Coordinate with various maintenance personnel to respond to campus site concerns and resolve routine work-related problems.

Communicate effectively with principals, department heads, district staff, and auxiliary services personnel to locate, correct, repair, and complete each job or project.

Follow District safety guidelines, using safe practices for hand and power tools; wear safety equipment as assigned.

Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and vehicles; report problems and document inventory per supervisor instructions.

Maintain accurate records for labor, materials, work orders, project orders, technical data sheets, and other maintenance records.

Respond to after-hours/emergency callouts, participate in a call-out rotation, and flex work hours as needed.

Comply with District policies, procedures, and federal reporting requirements.

Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Accredited high school diploma or U.S. equivalency.

Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Universal Certification; HVAC trade school certification preferred.

Three years of directly related experience preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of preventive maintenance, inspection, and minor repair of HVAC equipment.

Experience maintaining equipment in excellent operation and energy management systems.

Knowledge of HVAC trade and best practices.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in accurate record keeping and computer database management (work orders, material procurement).

Ability to work under time pressures and meet completion deadlines.

Ability to work in confined spaces, frequently use ladders/climb/balance to heights up to 30 feet.

Valid Texas driver license with acceptable driving record.

Spanish language communication ability is a plus.
