Location Profile Located in Gardena, California, Permaswage designs and manufactures separable and permanent fluid fittings and installation tooling for aerospace and defense applications.
Position Summary 2nd Shift Manufacturing Supervisor. Provides leadership and supervises direct labor employees involved in the manufacturing of Permaswage products. Manages assigned company resources (personnel, equipment and materials) to achieve work schedules and satisfy customer requirements in an efficient and cost‑effective manner. May occasionally operate production equipment or perform hands‑on production tasks, not to exceed 20 % of the workday (such activities must be cleared in advance by the Manufacturing Manager).
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Complies with and enforces all company safety rules and regulations, including the use of company‑provided personal protective equipment, maintaining a clean work area, operating equipment and using tools safely, and correcting unsafe conditions or practices.
Leads a team of employees and manages performance to set expectations, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints to resolve problems.
Updates Daily Management board and communicates the status of Dispatch list, RYG report, weekly shipment plan, Flex performance, and projections during daily walk‑through with management, escalating any issues needing support.
Schedules jobs to maximize machine and operator efficiencies and reports capacity constraints to production control.
Achieves daily metrics including ESH, productivity, scrap, dock, sales, and other significant measures.
Uses the daily Flex tool to monitor and manage key metrics, especially variable spending, and understands spending details daily.
Maintains proper staffing levels to achieve budgeted performance levels.
Uses the Productivity Pipeline form to update and manage cost reduction projects and reports status weekly.
Analyzes processes to improve efficiency (including purchase of new capital equipment, planning arrangement of equipment, use of cost‑effective production techniques) and achieves cost‑reduction expectations.
Implements lean manufacturing methods (6S, flow, visual organization, etc.).
Ensures manufacturing documentation procedures and protocols are followed at all times.
Monitors scrap, yield, and part efficiencies on existing programs to ensure budget achievement.
Holds weekly employee communication meetings and ensures their team understands the status and future of the business.
Ensures machinery is at optimum repair by implementing preventative maintenance programs, assigning repair tasks, and maintaining spare parts.
Obtains tooling, gauges, and other supplies needed for production prior to release of the router to machines, implementing setup‑time reduction methods.
Trains personnel in production tasks, safety requirements, teamwork, and lean manufacturing principles.
Checks quality and quantities of product runs, SPC charts, first‑article charts, and accuracy of routers.
Resolves technical and administrative problems.
Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications Required
1–5 years of technical experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting is highly preferred.
Demonstrated leadership abilities.
Working knowledge of JDEdwards software, AS400/Mapcis preferred, but not required.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry; able to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and manage multiple variables where limited standardization exists; ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions; ability to work under deadline pressure.
Ability to concentrate on specific objectives while managing multiple priorities, people, and functions.
Desired
Experience in an aerospace machining environment.
Previous experience managing hourly employees.
Continuous improvement background.
Microsoft Excel programming or other computer programming skills.
Experience working with JDEdwards systems.

Compensation & Benefits Range of pay: $90,000 to $115,000 USD (salary based on a variety of factors). Eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at a quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on Company performance. Employees receive 120 hours paid time off and 10 paid holidays annually. Health and dental, vision, and basic life insurance are offered, along with company 401(k) plan participation.
