Position Summary
The Business Development Banker plays a critical role in generating new deposits, business loan leads, cash management services, and other revenue streams for the bank. Their main responsibility is to actively prospect for new business relationships and identify opportunities. This involves building and maintaining a strong pipeline of business leads, regularly meeting with potential clients, and fostering robust relationships in their designated market area. A key aspect of the role is closing business opportunities within the Professional Services vertical. The Business Development Banker engages with a range of stakeholders, including high-net-worth individuals, local businesses, and key influencers (Centers of Influence), to broaden their network and enhance their business portfolio. After winning opportunities, the role includes maintaining and nurturing client relationships, providing ongoing support and additional banking solutions to meet evolving needs. In summary, the Business Development Banker balances proactive new business development with strategic client retention and growth.
Primary Responsibilities
Prospect within Professional Services verticals to include attorneys, medical practices, property management organizations, CPAs, marketing and consulting firms, research and development, and engineering/architectural firms.
Identify and develop new business relationships with annual revenues over $5MM.
Self-source and onboard new business relationships to achieve set goals.
Organize in-branch events to host prospects and customers to acquire and deepen relationships.
Attend and host events outside normal business hours and on weekends.
Onboard business prospects and grow existing business customers’ lending, depository, and cash management relationships.
Work with Centers of Influence (COI) to build a network that positively impacts referrals and production.
Partner with multiple lines of business within Blue Foundry Bank (e.g., Cash Management, Commercial Banking, External Partners) to cross-sell products and deepen relationships.
Collaborate with the Cash Management Team to ensure customers use tools to run their business smoothly and efficiently.
Identify top branch depositors and coordinate with Branch Relationship Managers to serve and deepen their relationship.
Dedicate 75% of time to generating business through meetings, outbound calls, networking, and community events.
Onboard business prospects and expand deposit, lending, and cash management relationships.
Work with Commercial Bankers to develop deposit relationships for these customers.
Additional Responsibilities
Understand and carry out senior management’s sales objectives within the assigned vertical.
Have in-depth experience with pre-qualification, structuring, and pricing on credit requests to meet profitability standards.
Stay current with credit policy, evaluate risk on credit and depository products, and assess client eligibility to submit credit packages.
Stay current with national, regional, and local industry trends.
Experience in building and maintaining relationships with customers and prospects.
Acquire new and deepen nonprofit relationships focusing on account acquisition and deposit growth.
Support the Blue Foundry Bank Charitable Foundation by engaging grant recipients.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field
Minimum 3 years of banking experience in business development, sales, and marketing
Proven experience in selling banking products and services, particularly growing deposits, commercial lending, treasury management services, and cash flow solutions
Demonstrated ability to generate new business through networking, cold calling, and client relationship management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with business clients
Strong skills in analyzing financial statements, identifying client needs, understanding credit risk, and providing tailored financial solutions
Willingness to travel for meetings and training as required
Self-motivated and confident with the ability to multitask
Strong Center of Influence (COI) network

Compensation and Referral Information
Blue Foundry Bank will award an employee referral payment to employees who refer new hires. If the candidate is hired, the referring employee will be eligible to receive referral payment according to the following guidelines:
$100 after the new employee completes three months
$400 after the one-year anniversary
Both employees must be employed on the anniversary date of the referred employee to receive a referral payment.
