Calibration Manager
opportunity in
Oak Ridge, TN .
We are looking for a highly skilled Calibration Manager to lead and oversee all calibration activities for an industrial manufacturing project within the nuclear industry. This role ensures that all measurement and test equipment (M&TE) used in production and quality assurance meets regulatory and technical standards. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in calibration systems, quality protocols, and nuclear industry compliance, with the ability to calibrate machines to extremely tight tolerances, down to the nanometer scale.
Job Description
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain the calibration program for all M&TE used in industrial manufacturing
Perform and oversee calibration of machines with ultra-tight tolerances — to the nanometer level
Ensure compliance with nuclear industry standards, including NQA-1 and ISO/IEC 17025
Manage calibration schedules, documentation, and traceability systems
Lead internal audits and support external inspections related to calibration and quality systems
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and QA teams to resolve calibration-related issues
Train and mentor calibration technicians and ensure continuous improvement in calibration practices
Maintain vendor relationships for outsourced calibration services
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for calibration discrepancies
Required Qualifications
3+ years calibration management experience
10+ years of experience in calibration in a manufacturing environment
Proficiency in calibration software and data management systems
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
Strong knowledge of NQA-1, ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540.3 standards
Experience with precision rotating equipment
Experience supporting DOE or NRC-regulated projects
Familiarity with cleanroom and controlled environment protocols
Other Job Requirements
United States Citizenship
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security clearance. Active clearance is a plus.
