Role Synopsis The Materials Planning and Inventory Control Lead is responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining production and inventory management systems that ensure optimal material availability and manufacturing efficiency. Reporting directly to the VP of Manufacturing, this role supports a discrete industrial manufacturing facility of approximately 45 team members.

The position oversees demand forecasting, capacity planning, materials replenishment, and inventory optimization to achieve world‑class delivery performance. The individual will also drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing inventory investment while maintaining production flow and customer service excellence.

A successful candidate will demonstrate a deep knowledge of supply chain principles, ERP systems, lean manufacturing concepts, and will hold an APICS/ASCM Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) credential.

Key Accountabilities

Develop, maintain, and execute the plant’s Master Production Schedule (MPS) to meet customer demand and manufacturing capacity.

Manage material and production planning and inventory control processes to support on‑time production.

Optimize inventory levels of raw materials, work‑in‑process, and finished goods to meet service and financial goals.

Analyze historical data and customer forecasts to anticipate material needs and production bottlenecks.

Lead the plant’s Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) activities in collaboration with Sales, Operations, and Finance.

Identify and resolve supply chain risks that could impact delivery or cost targets.

Maintain and continuously improve ERP system accuracy for bills of materials, routings, and inventory transactions.

Implement and monitor KPIs related to schedule adherence, inventory turns, and customer service performance.

Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Production to ensure effective change management for new or revised products.

Drive continuous improvement in planning and inventory processes aligned with lean manufacturing and Just‑in‑Time principles.

Mentor and develop team members involved in planning, scheduling, and inventory activities.

QHSE Responsibilities

Demonstrate a personal commitment to quality, health, safety, and the environment.

Qualifications

APICS/ASCM Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) certification is required.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, or related area are highly desired but not required.

Experience

5–7 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, and inventory management in an industrial manufacturing environment are required.

Strong understanding of MRP, ERP systems, and demand forecasting methodologies. Experience with the Acumatica ERP system is a plus.

Proven ability to balance inventory investment with customer delivery performance.

Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, just‑in‑time (JIT), Kaizen, and continuous improvement practices.

Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross‑functionally.

Demonstrated ability to lead change and implement best practices in a manufacturing setting.
