Department Summary: The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health’s Department of Biostatistics is home to leading researchers in Bayesian methods, big data, causal inference, statistical computing, data science, and related areas. The program areas include Master of Data Science in Health (MDSH) and other biostatistics degree programs. The incumbent will oversee day-to-day operations with a focus on program growth, quality and efficiency, and will supervise staff and work with university administration to implement policies and procedures. This is a highly independent role reporting to the Program Director. Position Summary

The incumbent will plan, organize, manage and evaluate all aspects of the MDSH program and other partnerships. They will develop and maintain strategy and sustainable workflows related to admissions, marketing and communications, budgeting and finance, academics and programming, program monitoring and evaluation, and related student services. The position requires leadership in operations, program growth, and cross-team collaboration. Launched in fall 2023, the MDSH Program provides advanced training in data management, data analytics, statistical modeling, machine learning, and big data computing for public health professionals. The program is designed for working professionals, with remote classes during the week and in-person one weekend a month at the UCLA campus. The ideal candidate will be familiar with UCLA systems and programming, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be capable of developing operations and strategies to grow the program. Minimum 5 years experience in a lead, supervisory or management role in an academic institution. (Required) Demonstrated work experience with program development including planning, project management and implementation to accomplish broadly defined goals. (Required) Experience coordinating academic courses, programs and/or events. (Required) Experience identifying and implementing monitoring and evaluation approaches to further program quality and strategy. (Required) Demonstrated marketing and communications experience including printing and production of materials. (Required) Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, planning, budget preparation, control and monitoring/tracking expenses. (Required) Working knowledge of university or higher education policies relating to accounting, purchasing, travel, personnel, financial management and resource management. (Required) Expertise in computer software applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook; working knowledge of database programs. (Required) Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects. (Required) Ability to maintain positive relationships with diverse audiences at all levels and with community partners. (Required) Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships with faculty, staff, students, campus entities, outside agencies and the public. (Required) Excellent critical thinking and strategic management skills; ability to synthesize complex information and provide policy and procedural recommendations. (Required) Ability to utilize data from various sources to produce reports and provide analysis for budget preparation and fund management. (Required) Ability to set and prioritize short- and long-range goals using a collaborative process with faculty, staff, students and administrative groups. (Required) Strong English writing, editing and proofreading skills for correspondence, reports, marketing materials and other program documents. (Required) Technical knowledge for website and social media design and best practices; awareness of trends for effective results. (Required) Working knowledge of public health fields, skills, and career options. (Preferred) Working knowledge of online financial systems similar to UCLA's QDB, OFSR, Oasis, Bruinbuy Plus, etc. (Preferred) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
