Job Description
Safeguard property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry
Enforce company rules, policies, and procedures; provide assistance to employees, visitors, volunteers, and the public
Act as guard in public areas, parking lots, and company entrances; greet and direct visitors; monitor parking for potential threats
Assist in maintaining order and security; report violations or problems to the contract manager
Visually inspect and count company objects; complete check sheets, report findings, and notify supervisors of irregularities
Control visitor access; monitor alarms and CCTV; maintain logs and reports; dispatch radio calls efficiently; answer telephone calls politely
Patrol company grounds; lock and unlock doors and gates; control lights
Respond quickly to emergency calls; render assistance; notify proper staff or outside agencies as required
Take reports and investigate incidents, coordinating with authorities and local police
Turn on lights at the start of each business day and permit entrance to authorized personnel
Open and secure doors, vaults, and gates; check safety, security containers, and cabinets; close windows
Reduce or turn off unnecessary lights and visuals; check safes; secure containers
Raise and lower all flags as prescribed
Provide services during day and evening special events
Maintain assigned post area neat and presentable; pick up litter; alert custodial services if needed
Document and report all items found on the premises
Ensure only authorized personnel access restricted areas; detain and apprehend unidentified individuals
Monitor alarm systems and electronic surveillance equipment
Report hazardous conditions and repair needs to the Safety Assistant, including inoperative lights, spills, leaky faucets, malfunctioning equipment, etc.
Enforce package inspections; visually screen and record contents of packages and parcels to prevent theft and contraband
Qualifications
Mentally alert; capable of exercising good judgment; implementing instructions; assimilating specialized training
Fluent in English (spoken, read, written)
Able to understand and carry out oral and written directions; write accurate, clear reports
Capable of monitoring environmental and electronic security systems
Requirements Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Licensing, Permits & Certifications
Valid California Driver’s License or California Identification card (issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles); carry while on duty
First Aid and CPR training; maintain current certification and carry while on duty at all times
Valid BSIS Guard Card
Physical & Mental Requirements
Fully capable of performing full range of security work requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion under normal or emergency conditions
