The Lead Machinist will be based at Rocket Lab's headquarters in Long Beach, CA. This person reports to the Fabrication Supervisor and will develop a high-performing team responsible for machining and fabricating a wide variety of parts to support multiple programs across Rocket Lab. You will interface with Supply Chain, CNC Programming, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Design, and Propulsion. Your team will support Electron, Rutherford, Neutron, Archimedes, and Space Systems fabrication. WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO

Oversee the operation and maintenance of various CNC equipment. Lead a team of machinists through development and production activities to deliver rocket and satellite components. Allocate resources to ensure delivery schedules are met for production and R&D programs. Collaborate with Rocket Lab engineering teams to ensure the highest quality of parts are manufactured and delivered. YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS

12+ years of professional machine shop experience. Ability to set up jobs on CNC Mills and Lathes. Ability to edit CNC programs. Experience machining a wide variety of materials. Experience leading a team in a fast-paced, flexible environment running 5+ machines. Excellent GD&T and blueprint familiarity with inspection knowledge. THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE

Experience programming in NX from CAD or drawings. Experience working with casting and/or 3D-printed materials. NLX-2500-4000 and DMU-50-125 experience. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Willing to work C Shift (Friday - Sunday 5:30am-3:30pm or 2:30pm-1:00am). Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed. Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods (8 hours min). Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Must be able to move repetitively, bend or twist, and use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

Level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Base salary is one component of our total rewards package including equity and a comprehensive benefits package. Base Pay Range (CA Only): $35 — $50 USD WHAT TO EXPECT
