Development Officer, Annual Fund and Grant support

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Partners with the Executive Director, Board, and Staff to develop and implement donor-centered, and data-driven fundraising strategies, goals, and policies that align donor passions with organizational mission.
Responsible for overseeing and working with IB’s grant writer for creating all grant writing initiatives, grant compliance, and reports for the organization.
Identifies and qualifies prospective donors with emphasis on understanding donor motivations and designing personalized engagement opportunities. Assists as needed to coordinate special events with IB’s Development Officer-Events and Volunteer Management and Ballet Guild. Maintains accountability and compliance standards for donors, sponsors, and other funding sources. Manages the development budget, with emphasis on ROI and strategic resource allocation. Develops and executes meaningful donor recognition and stewardship plans that demonstrate measurable impact and foster long-term relationships. Helps the Executive Director build and nurture the Development Committee through strategic recruitment, engagement, and outcome measurements. Represents Indianapolis Ballet at performances and community events to establish and develop authentic relationships with patrons and stakeholders. Takes initiative to assist with other job functions as needed for the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS Four-year degree or equivalency and a minimum of 3 - 5 years of relevant professional work experience in fundraising, grant writing, and partnership building. Experience or knowledge in the performing arts industry is strongly preferred, knowledge of classical ballet is desirable. Proven efficiency of donor-centered communication with excellent written and verbal skills. Experience with fundraising across multiple channels including digital, individual donors, and grants. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and experience with donor management software (such as Bloomerang or Raiser’s Edge, or eTapestry). A Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) credential is desirable but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position requires the ability to sit for long periods of time to conduct daily business operations. Position also requires hearing and visual acuity to converse with internal and external constituents in person, over the phone, and via electronic communication with or without reasonable accommodation. This position also requires the need to maneuver behind and around the stage and throughout the theatre to conduct business during rehearsals and performances.
