Mass Tort Paralegal

Overview Position will focus on California product liability matters, including asbestos, silica and other toxic tort matters. Responsibilities include fact investigation, legal research, document preparation and production, database management, docketing/case management and overall client service. The role will support attorneys in discovery, deposition preparation, trial and mediation preparation, pleadings, motions and related proceedings.
Key Responsibilities
Assist attorneys in fact investigation, witness interviews, drafting pleadings and correspondence, legal research, document preparation and production, database management, docketing/case management, and client service.
Prepare materials for depositions, hearings, trials and related proceedings; attend when needed.
Participate in pre‑trial preparation and trial attendance.
Assist in drafting pleadings, discovery, and motions.
Coordinate filing of pleadings and documents, and arrange for service.
Collect and summarize medical and other records.
Assist with calendaring and docketing.
Collaborate with attorneys in multiple offices.
Act as liaison between clients, colleagues, and experts to ensure timely communication and production of case materials.
Stay informed of developments in product liability practice areas and the paralegal industry.
Maintain professional demeanor and attitude.
Comply with firm policies and sustain attention to detail and quality of work.
Develop technical proficiency in database use, internet research, and electronic file maintenance.
Organize and manage files independently or delegate to Paralegal Assistants under supervision of Information Governance.
Attend in‑house CLEs and mentor Paralegal Assistants.
Anticipate attorneys’ needs and perform key duties without supervision of another paralegal or senior paralegal.
Meet billable hour requirement of 1,500 hours per year.

Position‑Specific Requirements
Experience with Asbestos, Silicosis, or other toxic tort litigation (California specific).
Paralegal certificate or bachelor’s degree in a law‑related field or associate’s degree with paralegal training.
Compensation and Benefits Employees receive compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The expected compensation ranges for this position in California are $86,000‑$139,000. Benefits include medical and dental coverage; life insurance; short‑term and long‑term disability insurance; pre‑tax flexible spending account; employee assistance program; paid time off; paid holidays; retirement plan after eligibility; and more.
We also offer a discretionary bonus opportunity based on individual and firm performance.
