Communications Technician 3

is responsible for installing, planning, organizing, and scheduling communications cabling and equipment to complete work orders. This includes task assignment, quality assurance, and inspections. The role involves monitoring task completion, ensuring compliance, and preventing safety issues in accordance with all relevant standards. Proficiency in Telecommunication Systems such as OSP & ISP Copper, CCTV, DAS, Fiber Optic, and Structured Cabling is required. Candidates should aim to become a qualified BICSI Technician. Core Market Sector: The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Low-Voltage specialty contracting, supporting projects in Healthcare, Government, Higher Education, Federal Aviation, and Mission Critical industries. Position Requirements: Extensive field experience in installation, termination, and testing of structured cabling in commercial construction. Experience in terminating, testing, and troubleshooting Horizontal Copper (Cat 5, Cat 6). Deep understanding of ISP/OSP systems, pathways, cable trays, cabinets, racks, and related equipment. Leadership skills to supervise a team of 6-10 technicians. Own a full set of tools prior to employment. Knowledge of fiber and cable termination techniques, including Anaerobic, Unicam, Fusion Splicing, Riser, and Horizontal Cables. Experience with various connectors, terminations, and color coding standards per TIA & EIA. Ability to test and label cables, and install systems including Video & Data Cabling, Fiber Optic, DAS, CCTV, and Patch Panels. Position Responsibilities: Lead small to moderate telecommunications projects. Supervise and mentor junior staff and apprentices. Conduct on-site cable pulling, inspections, and quality checks. Read and interpret plans and blueprints. Ensure safety and compliance throughout project phases. Manage inventory and documentation. Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 6+ years in telecommunications installation and oversight. Minimum 5+ years in complex markets like federal, healthcare, and mission-critical facilities. Ability to read plans, work independently, and communicate effectively. Reliable transportation and the ability to obtain security clearance if needed. Desired Qualifications: Active Security Clearance. Valid Passport and willingness to travel overseas. BICSI Technician credentials. Manufacture and fiber certifications. Experience with Microsoft Office. Physical Abilities: Lift at least 100 pounds, work at heights, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks regularly. Good vision and communication skills.
