THIS POSITION WILL BE FILLED AS A PROBATIONAL APPOINTMENT or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE OF LOUISIANA STATE GOVERNMENT (State Employee)
SALARY DEPENDENT ON QUALIFICATIONS
This position has a Special Entrance Rate at each level:
Social Worker 1: SER of $19.88/hr
Social Worker 2: SER of $21.27/hr
Social Worker 3: SER of $22.76/hr
Premium Pay
: An additional rate between $2.00 and $5.00/hr for each hour worked, based on years of service with DOC.
This position may be filled as:
Detail : The employee may serve a trial detail prior to promotion.
Temporary Job Appointment : The position may be temporary, with potential conversion to a permanent role.
Probational Appointment : Current permanent employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment.

Minimum Qualifications Possession of a current Louisiana license as an LMSW, LCSW, or CSW plus a master's degree in social work. Permanent status requires LMSW or LCSW licensure; CSW credential does not qualify for permanent status.

Supervision Close supervision from a higher-level social worker or administrator.
Job Distinctions Differs from other social work roles by therapeutic intervention, case management, and required documentation including psycho-social histories, evaluations, and treatment plans. Responsibilities include client interviews, therapeutic strategies, interdisciplinary collaboration, case management, and community resource development.
