Overview
Case Manager and Employment Specialist at Global Refuge. This role reports to the Client Services Supervisor and provides case management, employment, and supportive services to newly arriving refugees and other ORR-eligible populations. The position supports self-sufficiency and integration through programs such as Reception and Placement (R&P), Matching Grant (MG), Preferred Communities, Refugee Support Services (RSS), and Asylum Services (AS). Global Refuge, formerly Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS), has served newcomers since 1939. We help individuals, families, and children begin new lives in the United States and, through our work, extend to Guatemala and Mexico with skills training and community reintegration. Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate client-centered, trauma-informed support. Assist in providing reception services to arriving refugees including airport pickup. Screen and enroll eligible families and individuals. Collaborate with clients to create service plans addressing needs, removing barriers, and achieving self-sufficiency. Review and update service plans regularly throughout the program period. Provide support to meet identified needs including housing, school enrollment, healthcare referrals, social services, benefits enrollment, and employment as applicable. Provide employment services including job readiness training, resume writing, interview preparation, and job placement. Maintain regular contact with clients per program requirements. Ensure provisioning of gender equity services. Monitor service provision to avoid duplication with other federally funded programs. Provide interpretation and translation services, transportation, and accompaniment to appointments as required. Deliver cross-cultural orientation to ease the resettlement process. Conduct outreach, engage in public speaking, and connect those seeking support to services. Engage with potential employers and community networks to remove barriers and support self-sufficiency and long-term integration. Maintain up-to-date documentation in client files and online databases; document services clearly throughout the client’s period of service. Submit programmatic reports as required and deliver services in accordance with program guidelines (R&P, MG, RSS, AS). Attend stakeholder meetings and collaborate with community partners to identify resources and make referrals as needed. Build new relationships with service providers, referral partners, and local employers. Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure timely linkage to services for program participants. Ensure services are linguistically and culturally appropriate and provide education and advocacy as needed. Participate in performance-related goal setting and achievement to meet personal and organizational objectives. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field or two years of experience in case management or social services preferred. Experience working with refugees, immigrants, or limited English speakers is highly preferred. Fluency in one of the key languages used by client populations is preferred (Arabic, Dari, Farsi, French, Swahili, etc.). Proficiency in MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel and database programs. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail; able to troubleshoot and manage multiple projects. Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently with high self-motivation. Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening and relationship-building. Reliable transportation, clean driving record, valid insurance, and ability to travel locally as required. Cross-cultural or international experience preferred.
