PDX Books Through Bars (age 13+) *Hands On*
PDX Books Through Bars mails literature and educational books to adults in custody nationwide, helping to liberate individuals through literature and educational materials. Volunteers are needed every Tuesday night from 5:30-7:30 pm to answer requests from adults in custody. Tasks include reading requests, pulling books from shelves, and packaging them for mailing. Books Through Bars:
Up to 10 volunteers each week. Every Tuesday from 5:30 - 7:30 pm.
Masks are required. The space is ADA-accessible, with all-gender restrooms on site and hand sanitizer available. Volunteers must park in the parking lot off of SE 54th and enter through the main entrance off of SE Belmont. Project Requirements: Volunteers must be
13 years of age or older
to attend; those under 16 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone. All volunteers under 18
must bring a Youth Volunteer Release Form signed by their parent or legal guardian. If bringing children or guests, you
MUST reserve slots for them
by creating a Volunteer Team and signing up your team for this project. Important Note:
You are responsible for ensuring that all team members attend. Teams that repeatedly sign up but do not show up may be removed. Issue Area(s): Adult Education, Civic & Community.
