A position has been declared open in the Weber School District for a Special Education Coordinator. This position is for 182 days per year plus 21 additional days, including a 9% stipend. All applications must be submitted through TalentEd and include a letter of recommendation from a current supervisor and one additional letter from a professional reference. Files will be reviewed before interviews are scheduled. Employment Start Date: Upcoming School Year 2023-24. Responsibilities:

Attend IEP and eligibility meetings in a supportive role, or LEA designee as needed. Support school teams in providing special education services to students with disabilities. Collaborate with school teams to develop IEPs and behavior plans. Support special education teachers in implementing specialized instruction. Demonstrate knowledge of special education law, policies, procedures, and file compliance. Conduct annual file compliance reviews. Participate in transition meetings for students with IEP teams. Conduct Manifestation Determination meetings. Conduct regular special education team meetings to provide updates on Special Education policy and practice. Collaborate with building administrators, school teams, and district personnel for implementation of supports and services for students. Oversee and develop teacher professional development training, including but not limited to: Best Practices, curriculum, new teachers, state compliance data. Model and instruct teachers in explicit instruction and instructional best practices. Understand a variety of assessments used for eligibility and educational planning. Maintain appropriate records and paperwork. Communicate effectively with co-workers, educational professionals, and families. Build strong professional relationships with parents/guardians, teachers, paraeducators, and school administrators. Effectively manage time to address the needs of schools through being a visible presence and accessible resource. Solution-oriented in meeting the needs of students in the best way possible. Regular work attendance is required. Qualifications:

Masters degree in an education-related field preferred. Hold a current Special Education educator license in the State of Utah - preschool, mild/moderate or severe. Recent experience working in special education within Weber School District required. Minimum 5 years experience teaching in special education within the State of Utah. Valid Driver’s License, operational vehicle, and insurance. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Requires the mobility to reach and bend (neck and back). Requires mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects. Requires independent transportation throughout the Weber School District geographical area. Requires mobility to maneuver through classroom and school environments independently. Requires lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 pounds, which may be a frequent aspect of the job. Requires pushing or pulling objects weighing up to 100 pounds, which is a rare aspect of the job. Requires implementation of non-violent crisis intervention techniques. May require working with bio-hazards (blood borne pathogens, human waste, cleaning/disinfecting materials, etc.).
