Overview Position: Insurance Defense Litigation Paralegal / Legal Assistant

Location: North Charleston, SC (Fully onsite for first 90 days; hybrid schedule option post-training)

Salary Range: $60,000 to $75,000 annually DOE

Job Type: Full-time, Direct-Hire

Position Summary LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a highly organized and experienced Paralegal / Legal Assistant to support a busy insurance defense litigation practice. This blended role requires a professional with demonstrated experience in insurance defense and construction defect matters, as well as strong administrative capabilities. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing a dynamic workload in a fast-paced legal environment.

Responsibilities

Litigation Support:

Assist attorneys in all phases of litigation, including trial preparation, arbitration, and document production.

Draft, review, and file legal documents in state and federal courts, including e-filing.

Organize and maintain case files, pleadings, discovery materials, and correspondence.

Conduct research and summarize medical records, deposition transcripts, and expert reports.

Coordinate and manage construction defect case documentation and timelines.

Administrative Functions:

Manage calendaring and docketing of deadlines, hearings, depositions, and trials.

Schedule meetings, depositions, mediations, and travel arrangements for attorneys and witnesses.

Prepare expense reports, travel itineraries, and review attorney time entries and client pre-bills.

Maintain client and case databases with accuracy and confidentiality.

Provide general administrative support including answering phones, managing mail, and maintaining office supplies.

Minimum Qualifications

2+ years of experience in insurance defense litigation, preferably with exposure to construction defect cases.

Proficiency in state and federal court e-filing systems.

Strong knowledge of legal document preparation, arbitration procedures, and trial logistics.

Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal practice management and docket management software.

Onsite work required for the first 90 days during onboarding and training.

After successful onboarding, a hybrid 3/2 WFH schedule may be offered.

Professional, collaborative office environment in North Charleston.
