IP Patent Paralegal

on behalf of a highly respected client in the Legal Services industry. This role can be based in

Detroit, MI; Kalamazoo, MI; Grand Rapids, MI; Chicago, IL; or Washington, D.C. Base Pay Range

$75,000.00/yr - $110,000.00/yr About the Role:

In this role, you will support intellectual property (IP) matters, focusing on patent-related processes. You will assist with domestic and international filings, maintain docketing systems, and manage patent-related correspondence. This is a great opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual with experience in patent filings to grow in a collaborative and high-performing legal environment. Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate domestic and international filings with the USPTO and foreign law offices. Maintain docket systems for key actions, including responses, renewals, oppositions, PCT requirements, and patent annuities. Prepare and file documents related to U.S. and foreign patents, including assignments. Draft client correspondence and summary reports. Handle and act on correspondence from foreign associates. Conduct legal research, including USPTO and industry database searches. Assist with legalizations, certifications, and records of license agreements and related matters. Qualifications:

Preferred:

Paralegal certification. At least

2+ years of experience

in patent filings and related legal tasks. Familiarity with U.S. and foreign patent processes (prosecution, maintenance, renewals). Strong computer proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and research databases (e.g., Innovation, PATTSY, Lexis/Nexis). Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling a high volume of work independently. Strong problem-solving abilities, with discretion in handling confidential information.
