Overview
The HF Student Pastor/Director will serve as the primary leader of our Hickory Flat Student Ministry. This person will invest in students, parents, and volunteers, while also building strong bridges to local schools and our community. The role requires a leader who is passionate about discipleship, gifted in building teams, and excited to advance the vision of First City Church in partnership with the Central Student Pastor. We believe students aren’t just the church of tomorrow, they are the church of today. We are prayerfully seeking a leader who will lead our Hickory Flat (HF) Student Ministry to continue making a gospel impact in our community.
Key Responsibilities
Champion Our Student Ministry Vision
Champion the mission to help students Know Jesus, Discover Hope, Experience Family, and Live Sent.
Plan and lead weekly student gatherings, retreats, and events that are biblically grounded, relationally engaging, and missionally focused.
Build Community and School Connections
Maintain and grow meaningful partnerships with local schools (sports teams, clubs, administration, and FCA).
Actively support and attend student activities such as games, concerts, and performances as available.
Develop and Equip Volunteers
Recruit, train, and shepherd a growing team of student ministry volunteers.
Schedule and organize weekly leaders for gatherings and events.
Foster a culture of ownership, joy, and teamwork among volunteers.
Engage with the Central Student Pastor
Meet with the Central Student Pastor regularly to further the unified vision for First City Students across all campuses.
Contribute creative ideas, strategies, and feedback to help strengthen the overall student ministry.
Shepherd Students and Families
Build relationships with students and parents, providing care, encouragement, and support in their spiritual journeys.
Create opportunities for students to serve inside and outside the church, developing them as leaders and disciple-makers.
Location Staff Reporting
Philosophy and Strategy: the campus staff is led by their Central Team Ministry Lead.
People, Logistics, Quality Control: the location staff is led by their Campus Pastor.
In the event there is conflict between the two, the central team will have the opportunity to discuss. Ultimately the Lead Team will decide if necessary. This should be a rare occasion.

Campus Pastor for logistics; Central Student Pastor for strategy
General Pastoral Expectations
Pursue a thriving personal relationship with Jesus Christ, so your leadership in the church is an overflow of the Spirit’s work in your life. “My ministry is only as healthy as I am.”
Assist in pastoral responsibilities such as weddings, funerals, occasional hospital visits, etc.
Pursue a personal growth plan that may include education, mentoring, or other activities to enrich your ability to minister.
Exemplify core expectations of pastoral ministry in our church:
Qualifications of a pastor (1 Timothy 3:1-7)
Abstaining from practices that could cause a brother to stumble (Romans 14:13-19). This includes the consumption of alcohol.
Modeling Christian disciplines: witnessing, tithing, corporate worship attendance, etc.
