Artistic Director - Gorton Drama Studio, Author - "The Young Actor's Handbook"
Gorton Drama Studio, under the leadership of Jeremy Kruse, Artistic Director, is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and passionate Dance Teacher to join our growing team. We are expanding our offerings and seeking a talented individual to enhance our Acting classes for children ages 7–10 through the integration of dance. This class will be offered at D67 schools in Lake Forest, IL.
Schedule
Days: Wednesdays at Cherokee School in Lake Forest, Thursdays at Everett School in Lake Forest and Fridays at Sheridan School in Lake Forest.
Time: 2:50 pm to 3:50 pm
This fun, beginner-friendly class introduces students to the fundamentals of acting, singing, and dancing through a rotating class structure that keeps things fresh and engaging. In acting, students develop original scenes through improvisation and acting exercises. In singing and dancing, they learn age-appropriate songs and choreography from musical theater. The session concludes with a low-pressure demonstration in which students perform the scenes, songs, and dances they’ve been working on. Perfect for K–4th grade students, this program is great for those new to theater or those with some experience who are looking for a fun, creative environment to continue exploring their talents. Students are grouped according to grade level.
Design and implement engaging dance routines and exercises to complement the acting curriculum.
Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for creative expression.
Provide constructive feedback and guidance to help students grow.
Proven experience teaching dance to children.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying skill levels.
Prior experience in theater or performing arts education preferred.
Led by Jeremy Kruse, Gorton Drama Studio delivers professional-caliber acting and dramatic writing education for all ages. We offer a supportive, inspiring environment where students explore creativity through theater and film. Located at the Gorton Center in Lake Forest, our facilities include The John and Nancy Hughes Theater, dedicated dance rooms, and an intimate black box theater.
Jeremy Kruse, Artistic Director, is a professional in acting, playwriting, and filmmaking. A graduate of The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, he is the author of “The Young Actor’s Handbook” and has taught at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York.
