Position Overview The Litigation Paralegal position is crucial in supporting attorneys in the preparation and management of cases related to creditors' rights. The paralegal will play a key role in supporting attorneys in preparation for mediations, depositions, and hearings. Responsibilities include organizing and reviewing case files, summarizing key documents and discovery materials, preparing exhibits, and ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accessible. Paralegals may also assist in drafting outlines or briefing materials to support attorneys during proceedings, helping ensure a smooth and effective presentation.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a legal environment, preferably in a litigation role.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Paralegal certificate.
Experience with case management software and legal research tools.
Working knowledge of Tabs and iManage.
Responsibilities
Meet with attorneys and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
Draft legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and written discovery; file motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
Research and analyze statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provide written analysis to attorneys.
Prepare, organize, store, and retrieve case files, including evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, and other items.
Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including attending trials and hearings.
Develop and maintain records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills
Strong research and analytical abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Proficiency in computer systems and legal software applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail.
Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures.
Preferred skills: proficiency in case management software.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
