Starting Salary:
$65,000-$70,000 (negotiable) Sign On Bonus:
$10,000 (paid out over 12 months)
The compensation package includes a front-loaded allocation of 24 hours of annual leave, alongside an additional 24 hours of sick leave in addition to the standard accrual. Furthermore, employees will receive a take-home vehicle and a clothing allowance.
Background:
The Fredericksburg Police Department is accepting applications for the position of General Investigations Detective. Detectives are responsible for the prevention, detection, investigation, and prosecution of criminal violations related to crimes against persons and property in the City of Fredericksburg. The work involves:
Detectives may be assigned to investigate any type of crime but not limited to: Sex Offenses, Domestic Violence, Fraud, Property Crimes and Major Felonies
Utilizing advanced Forensic skills
Producing well documented reports, supplements and investigations
Testifying in Court and Grand Jury proceedings
Working closely with Commonwealth Attorneys and other service providers
Working with other jurisdictions and Detectives
Working in an undercover capacity
Minimum Requirements:
Current Virginia DCJS Law Enforcement Certification
Minimum of 6 months of documented experience as a detective, investigator, agent or other field of specialized criminal investigatory activities
Possess a valid driver’s license
No more than 2 moving violations within previous 24 months
No records of convictions within previous 60 months for DUI, eluding, leaving the scene of an accident, or vehicular manslaughter. No record of 2nd or subsequent DUI
No current or previous revocations or suspension of license within previous 60 months due to a moving violation
Not have been convicted of or pled guilty or no contest to a felony
Not have been convicted of or pled guilty or no contest to a Class 1 or 2 misdemeanor involving moral turpitude
Not have been convicted of or pled guilty or no contest to any misdemeanor sex offense in the Commonwealth of Virginia, another state or the United States
Not have been convicted of or pled guilty or no contest to domestic assault
Not have produced a positive result on a pre-employment drug screening
