Overview
BJC HealthCare is seeking an experienced CDI professional to join our team as a CDI Quality Coordinator (DQC). This role requires 5+ years of CDI experience and a finished BSN with CDI certification. The DQC performs second level reviews on complex CDI cases, trains CDI members, and handles the hotline for questions from other CDI members. Role Purpose
The Documentation Quality Coordinator (DQC) works at the enterprise level and uses extensive Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) experience to perform second level reviews of complex clinical cases and focused reviews of target populations prior to final coding and billing across BJC. The position responds to review requests system-wide, escalates unanswered queries to Physician Champions, analyzes data and reports, and educates facility-based CDI staff and medical providers on enterprise trends and opportunities. Responsibilities
Review clinical documentation to facilitate accurate representation of severity of illness, expected risk of mortality, and complexity of care; perform retrospective DRG verification per OIG and CMS workplans, noting organizational trends. Demonstrate thorough understanding of the MS-DRG system, CCs/MCCs, CMI, ICD-10 coding, and related guidelines; serve as a resource for the CDI team. Lead provider engagement, establish standards, and maintain shared accountability for enterprise CDI and documentation improvement with all providers. Identify enterprise trends, variances, deficiencies, and problems using aggregated data; perform CDI data trend analysis and propose solutions to leadership. Lead and manage ongoing documentation improvement initiatives across service lines and hospitals; oversee education plans, standards for content/process/technology, analytics, and enterprise projects; act as a consultant to quality managers, management, medical staff, and health care staff on core measure performance and CDI opportunities.
