As part of the Children’s Mobile Crisis Team, the Crisis Behavioral Health Clinician provides culturally competent crisis interventions to children and young adults experiencing a serious emotional disturbance in the Staten Island community. Crisis Behavioral Health Clinicians perform immediate on-site risk assessments and crisis de-escalation to reduce risk to the client and the community. The clinician works with the agency\'s medical, psychiatric, and psychology staff to ensure appropriate treatment interventions. This position requires rotating holiday and evening coverage based on program need. A commuter differential of $4,420 is allotted for Staten Island programs for staff who do not live on Staten Island in addition to base salary or hourly wage. Key Essential Functions
Monitors CMCT email and responds within 2 hours of receiving a crisis referral (1 hour for the first school referral of the day) for an adolescent or young adult experiencing a serious emotional disturbance in the community. During initial crisis response, performs a risk assessment and psychosocial evaluation to identify client and family needs. Works with the client and family to create safety plans. Develops and implements short-term service plans for clients in coordination with the client/family, team members, and other current service providers. Utilizes a variety of evidenced-based practices to provide short-term clinical interventions designed to reduce risk by identifying effective coping skills and encouraging clients to accept appropriate behavioral health interventions. Maintains all case documentation in the agency’s electronic health record system in accordance with program documentation submission guidelines. Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and conferences; participates in Audit Preparation. Works with the Clinical Director and/or Administrative Supervisor on intake for new consumers. Collaborates with Crisis Family Advocates to enhance communication and cooperation between the team and consumer families. Other duties as assigned. Core Competencies
Clinical training and knowledge of mental illness, serious emotional disturbances, and substance use disorders. Ability to document clinical assessments, plans, and interventions. Educational/Training Required
New York State Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (e.g., LMSW, LMHC, LCAT, LCSW). Valid NYS Driver’s License. Experience/Languages
Minimum of one year of relevant experience with a similar client population. Proficient reading and writing in English. Pay differential for bilingual clinicians. Computer Skills
Working knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel. Work Environment / Physical Effort
Ability to travel within New York City carrying equipment (notebook, forms, laptop, mobile hotspot, cell phone) weighing up to ~10 pounds. Risks/hazards associated with traveling around New York City and interfacing with clients in crisis. Position is currently hybrid (1 day per week in office) but may become 100% in person based on program need. Additional Information
