Job Summary The Construction Manager for Civil, Underground energized and non‑energized utility manages and directs utility construction activities, including project management, resource allocation, equipment management, and utility construction. Responsibilities include human resources, payroll, accounting, and administrative functions, supporting the Construction team and collaborating with field personnel, senior operations management, and customers.
Responsibilities
Manage all projects to completion on time and within budget.
Schedule crews, delegate tasks, review project timelines, and supervise work performance and quality.
Participate in the hiring process and maintain employment‑related paperwork.
Promote a safe work environment and hold crews accountable to safe work practices.
Determine job costs, labor, and material needs, ensuring on‑time deliveries.
Interpret drawings, graphs, maps, blueprints, bid documents, contracts, proposals, and specifications.
Identify and resolve blueprint issues before or during construction.
Identify and supervise subcontractors, inspect their work, and bill for relevant personnel or contractors.
Take responsibility for all personnel, vehicles, and equipment under control.
Participate in meetings with senior operations management, peers, and customers.
Participate in estimating, bidding, contract negotiations, and change order preparation.
Qualifications
Associate degree in Construction Management or Engineering.
Five years of relevant energized and non‑energized electric utility construction management experience.
Experience in overhead distribution and underground electric utility work.
At least two years in a supervisory role.
OSHA 30 certification.
Heavy financial experience and industry knowledge.
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering.
Ten years of relevant electric utility experience.
Physical Demands and Work Environment This role primarily operates in a professional office environment, routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and scanners. The position is largely sedentary but requires filing or lifting. Employees must be able to bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
