Required Education and Experience:
A High School Diploma or GED plus Nineteen (19) years of general systems engineering experience, OR
A Bachelor’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus fifteen (15) years of systems engineering experience, OR
A Master’s degree or PhD in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus thirteen (13) years of systems engineering experience.
Must be proficient with Fundamental Linux command and OS structure experiences
Must have programming language experience. Python preferred, but other languages will be helpful – position requires basic scripting skills (bash and Python to support telemetry actions

Peraton is hiring a skilled Systems Engineer (SE) that has experience planning for and managing data storage solutions. The SE will support our customer’s large High Performance Computing (HPC) related program. This program is cutting edge and includes everything from HPC test planning and execution, architecture design and prototyping, and vendor outreach and collaboration support. Program technical areas include commercial cloud technologies, high performance computing, and enterprise architecture. The program is tactically important to the national security of the United States and the work on these missions are frequently recognized for their results and the Program Integrator will be directly involved in ensuring the government is successful in achieving their planned objectives of this growing, high-profile program.
The selected Systems Engineer should have significant and relevant experience managing storage solutions. The SE must be knowledgeable in the following areas:
Understands file systems (XFS, Lustre/GPFS/SephFS, NFS, EXT4, etc.)
Understands performance testing of IOPS and can write/evaluate test plans to reflect a need (for example, x number of nodes with xMB write capability)
Knowledgeable of various types of HW configurations (i.e. RAID (0-10), Grid RAID, Sharding, etc.)
Familiar with various storage networks (i.e. SAN, Ethernet, Infiniband, slinghsot, etc.)
Knowledgeable in various types of storage, interfaces, tools, file systems (Flash/NAND (or other types) based SSD's, Form factors, RAID levels, Interfaces (M.2, SATA, PCIe NVMe, etc.)
Familiarity with smart data
Able to effectively monitor storage network, bus, and devices
Familiarity with general CPU components/architecture (Cache, processor core(s), Integrated Memory/Storage Controllers)
Familiar with the FIO or IOR benchmarking tools
Familiar with Ansible playbooks
Familiar with Lustre parallel file system
