As a Mechanical Assembler - Weld Fittings, you will be responsible for performing various manufacturing processes in one or more areas overhaul, assembly, and disassembly of Naval Propulsion Equipment.

What you will be doing With this attractive opportunity you will be responsible for performing various manufacturing processes in one or more areas overhaul, assembly, and disassembly of Naval Propulsion Equipment. Including clean propulsion hubs, internal parts, and blade bolts as required for inspection. To include packaging of completed assemblies.

Responsibilities

Assembly & Manufacturing: Perform all work accurately according to required standard processes and meet all quality standards

Produce the quantity of work as expected and ensure full utilization of all equipment

Maintain upkeep on assigned area, PPE, and tooling

Stamp material with specifications

Package finished product; requires repetitive bending at hips, knees, and twisting

Empty garbage cans on the shop floor; typically filled with cardboard, paper, and trash from sweeping walkways

Material Handling: Load and unload semi-trucks/box trucks using a fork truck; must be able to operate a fork truck, including ability to step up onto the fork truck

Move materials around factory using manual and electric pallet jacks

Move large items between building using a fork truck

Quality & Safety: Follow health, safety and environmental procedures and regulations

Follow all established protocols such as housekeeping, tool control, and training plans

Use advanced troubleshooting logic to identify complex operation and/or process issues in assigned area

Basic Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.

2 + years as a mechanic, working in a professional environment or capacity

Mechanical aptitude, previous experience working as a professional mechanic

Have no allergic reaction to chemicals or materials used in performing related tasks.

Ability to lift components weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.

Ability to work any shift and overtime as needed.

Interpret both drawings and technical instructions.

Work as part of an integrated manufacturing team to help the business meet its target

Uses problem solving skills and identifies business improvements opportunities

This position requires access or potential access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information, which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. Therefore, to meet NOFORN requirement, you will have to provide proof of US Citizenship and attest that you do not have dual citizenship. Acceptable proof of US Citizenship is a US Passport, US Birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate.

Preferred Requirements

Experience working in a lean/precision manufacturing environment

Professional certifications such as ASE, or A & P
