Position The Rental Diesel Technician is responsible for performing incidental repairs, removing and replacing repairable sub-assemblies, evaluating damage to determine reusability in rebuild, troubleshooting equipment, and/or performing high-level diagnostic assessments in a manner that reflects the company’s vision of working as “One Professional Team.” Depending on education and experience, the Shop Mechanic may perform all or some of the Essential Functions listed below with or without direct supervision.

Training will be at the Aurora location until the Denver location opens late 2025.

Pay Rate: $22.00 - $34.04 per hour. Pay is dependent on education and experience.

Essential Functions

Learns and understands how to use the work order system. Completes all documents and parts orders associated with repairs in an accurate and timely manner. Identifies parts for return timely.

Works effectively with others in the shop and accepts helpful technical advice from others with more work experience.

Communicates effectively with Shop Leads, Shop Coordinators and Managers to ensure problems, nature of repair, and status of repairs are understood and followed up on.

Always engages in required safety practices and maintains quality housekeeping in work area.

Works to the Service Department’s quality standards within allowed time.

Reads and understands the manufacturers’ Operation and Maintenance Manual per machine type and complies with its contents.

Inspects equipment and maintains equipment to ensure safe operation.

Understands the operation, function, specifications, capabilities and controls of any piece of rental equipment to ensure all operating controls and functions are in compliance with manufacturers’ specifications.

Inspects machines returned from rental for customer damage and notifies supervisors regarding any specific damage found.

Adheres to manager’s and lead mechanic’s directions regarding all repairs and service calls.

Performs basic troubleshooting and diagnosing of equipment malfunctions and failures with appropriate supervision.

Assists in rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining equipment and components.

Attends training as requested.

Assumes yard duties as needed; loads/unloads equipment and cleans returned rental equipment with a pressure washer.

Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs.

Other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

Graduation from a technical school with emphasis on diesel engine preferred

Heavy equipment, engine, or mechanic repair experience

1+ years administrative/clerical experience

1+ years customer service experience

Physical Demands & Competencies

Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing

Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, etc.

Heavy work that includes lifting and/or moving objects up to 100 pounds or more

Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills

Safety & Product Knowledge

Understanding of diagrams and schematics

Intermediate diagnostic aptitude

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Wynne, and ET/SIS/SIS Web/STW

Basic knowledge of Windows/Internet

Work Environment

Noise: Moderate

Indoors and Outdoors

Specific Risks: Works with moving, mechanical parts; may work in high places and be exposed to equipment vibration and fumes
