General purpose: Directly responsible for managing and maintaining production activities, product quality, and plant equipment. The Supervisor is responsible for plant performance in EHS, Quality, production efficiency and goal achievement, inventory management, raw material and finished product scheduling, customer service, and strategic planning while providing effective leadership to the plant employees. The position reports to the Regional Plants Manager and works closely with the Regional Industrial Director - Americas, Maintenance Manager, Engineering Manager, Quality Control Manager, Sales Team, and Engineers to improve plant performance and exceed customer expectations. The typical plant schedule is Monday through Friday 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM with nights and weekends when required. This may include a split shift to meet production demands.
Responsibilities
Provides leadership and direction for the operators, lab personnel, and administrators at the Convent plant.
Executes the business and operational plans to achieve maximum revenue, profitability, and performance targets.
Assists in new policy and procedure rollouts; verifies information is disseminated appropriately through the plant and affected individuals are properly trained.
Supports all EHS and Quality management systems.
Participates in or leads RCAs for EHS incidents.
Ensures all company EHS policies are followed to promote a zero-injury work environment.
Verifies all Lock-Out-Tag-Out-Tag-Outs and permitted activities.
Ensures compliance with DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations and standards.
Reports all near misses, injuries, spills, and property damage incidents accordingly.
Manages batch tickets, production receipting, and quality checks.
Works with Sourcing, Customer Service, and Logistics to develop inbound, outbound, and blending schedules.
Ensures timely processing and proper documentation of inbound and outbound shipments of raw materials and finished goods.
Plans and coordinates with the US Terminals Manager to develop manufacturing schedules that meet or exceed company and customer expectations and maximize the utilization of batch manufacturing equipment, personnel, and raw materials.
Ensures quality, production, and logistics data is documented and reported properly.
Utilizes a Computerized Maintenance Management System to document any equipment issues.
Contacts vendors and contractors to obtain parts, equipment, and labor to facilitate plant repairs and improvements.
Directs contractors and maintenance personnel regarding the service, repair, and installation of plant equipment.
Assists in the commercialization of new products and processes.
Assists in the development and implementation of capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects.
Increases productivity by providing effective and efficient methods of manufacturing, as well as motivating and assisting employees to reach their personal business goals and objectives.
Follows the company’s Sustainability Policy.
Issues purchase orders and approves operational expenses (OPEX) within company guidelines.
Full supervisory duties including interviewing, hiring, and training employees, coaching, and counseling, addressing employee development, and providing timely and appropriate documentation supporting corrective action measures in collaboration with management and HR.
Establishes, maintains, and promotes a positive work environment that engenders positive energy, creativity, and teamwork among employees.
Encourages cross-training of direct reports.
Conducts post-accident drug testing, when applicable and within guidelines.
Other duties, as assigned.
Very limited travel for training.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
High School diploma or GED equivalent, required.
5+ years of experience in a process manufacturing environment, required. (Chemical manufacturing, preferred)
1+ years of experience with management, required.
Plant operations troubleshooting experience, required.
