What You'll Do
Collaborate with medical providers and medical assistants on patient care management, organization, and communication.
Exercise professional judgment to provide health care services, applying X‑ray energy to assist in diagnosis and treatment for patients of all ages.
Job Summary The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with medical providers and/or medical assistants in the examination and treatment of Inova‑GoHealth Urgent Care patients. Responsibilities include performing and analyzing patient X‑rays, reporting results, and providing administrative support for efficient operation of urgent care centers.
Job Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma required; graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required.
Work Experience:
Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
Licenses / Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire (American Red Cross or American Heart Association).
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire.
State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required at the time of hire (if applicable by state law).
Essential Functions
Provide X‑ray services as needed and ensure proper positioning and protection of patients.
Assist patients in a wheelchair when necessary.
Patient Preparation and Rooming
Inform technical staff of patient flow.
Prepare patients for examination, conducting interviews to verify patient information and medical history.
Perform preliminary vital sign tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) and report critical results to providers.
Conduct point‑of‑care testing as needed (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
Administrative Responsibilities
Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files.
Conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up on care.
Adhere to operating instructions for daily equipment controls and calibration; maintain QA/QC logs and submit repair tickets as needed.
Other Responsibilities
Collaborate with ordering/treating providers to determine appropriate procedures or views.
Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly.
Explain procedures to patients, ensuring comfort and safety.
Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging.
Select proper ionizing factors and adjust radiographic controls for high‑quality diagnostic images.
Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and supply management of X‑ray equipment.
Adhere to radiation safety protocols, implementing ALARA principles.
Maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures.
Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation.
Knowledge
Knowledge of X‑ray procedures and protocols.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to X‑ray testing, including body mechanics.
Knowledge of radiology equipment and common safety hazards.
Skills
Position patients properly for required X‑ray procedures.
Identify equipment problems and correct or notify supervisors.
Follow infection control and radiological safety procedures.
