Overview Cape Cod Hospital is seeking Radiology/Interventional Techs to perform or assist with invasive procedures in the Cardiac Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, and Electrophysiology settings. The role involves scrubbing, circulating, monitoring, recording hemodynamic parameters, image management, patient positioning, equipment operation, radiation protection, and collaboration with physicians to ensure safe and efficient procedures.

Responsibilities

Assist in all aspects of invasive procedures, including scrubbing, circulating, monitoring and recording hemodynamic parameters in accordance with policy and procedure.

Assist in diagnostic and interventional procedures. Operate equipment/devices as appropriate including radiology equipment.

Transfer images to the PACS system and check image quality and proper identification.

Position patient on examination table and adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views as requested by the physician per policy.

Receive and review requests for interventional studies.

Transfer patients onto medical equipment, wheelchairs, and stretchers.

Provide care for physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations and procedures; explain procedures and address questions to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.

Apply radiographic protection principles to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.

Set up sterile trays and manage disposal after procedures.

Coordinate work to achieve maximum productivity.

Assist Physician with administration of contrast media and with arterial, venous and percutaneous procedures.

Participate in continuing education as directed by ARRT and Massachusetts Radiation Control Program.

Maintain department inventory and perform routine equipment checklists; report any equipment not in proper working order.

Assist and scrub with Vascular Surgeons/Interventional Radiologists in high-pressure procedures in the operating room as assigned.

Utilize hospital information system, hemodynamic monitoring software and PACS system software.

Perform preventative maintenance of interventional equipment and conduct routine safety checks to ensure readiness for use.

Perform all applicable electrophysiology duties (where applicable per job code); stay current with developments in EP.

Qualifications — Tech I

Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

High school graduate or GED.

Minimum of two years post-technical school radiology experience (or 1 year recent experience as a special procedures technologist).

Graduate of a JRCERT-accredited Radiologic Technology Program.

Registered by the ARRT and licensed by the State of Massachusetts as a Radiologic Technologist.

Current BLS certification required. ACLS and IABP required within six months of employment.

Successful passage of Basic Arrhythmia Challenge Exam or Basic Arrhythmia course within twelve months.

Qualifications — Tech II

All Tech I qualifications.

RCIS, CI, or VI certification, or 3 years recent experience in Cardiac Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology.

Alternate: Completion of EP training program (per job code 8152).

Qualifications — Tech III

All Tech I qualifications.

5 years recent experience in Cardiovascular EP OR two of: CI, VI, RCIS, or EP training completion.

Purpose of Position Performs interventional procedures by applying ionizing radiation under prescribed radiation safety standards and under the direction of Physicians.

Schedule Details 24/32 flexible hours per week, rotating days and shifts between 7a-5p, rotating weekends and holidays. On-call required for nights, weekends and holidays. Lead apron usage required. Cath lab/EP/IR training and rotation provided. Sign-On Bonus Eligible.
