Construction Materials Lab Technician

Responsibilities
Perform laboratory testing on construction materials under supervision.
Maintain laboratory safety and compliance, including equipment calibration and facility organization.
Test soils for Atterberg limits, gradation, swell, moisture content, unconfined compressive strength, and standard and modified Proctor tests, and support visual classification of soils.
Test concrete samples—labeling, curing monitoring, temperature logging, and breaking samples.
Calculate and reduce data, document results accurately, and perform administrative duties as needed.

Encourage participation in internal and external training programs and certification opportunities (e.g., ASTM).
Required Qualifications
No prior experience required; high school diploma or GED.
Must obtain and maintain laboratory certifications for concrete or soils.
Must lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Valid driver’s license and insurance.
Willingness to gain knowledge of CMT laboratory equipment, testing methods, and ASTM standards.
Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) and ability to work effectively with peers and supervisors.
